University campuses in the Hungarian countryside

Are you interested in studying in Hungary, but you don’t know which university to choose? Besides the large university towns, many higher education institutions have campuses in smaller towns as well, where you can also find English programmes in various academic fields. Read our overview about some of those university campuses in the countryside, where you can study as an international student.

The Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences - Széchenyi István University

The Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences is located in Mosonmagyaróvár, only 40 km from the city of Győr. Located in the stunning environment of the Moson-Danube river near the Austrian and Slovakian boarder, the campus provides excellent learning and research opportunities in a vibrant student milieu. The Mosonmagyaróvár Campus of the University offers high-level education in the fields of general agriculture sciences, food quality assurance and agricultural economics. International students can choose from various English programmes such as Agriculture Engineering (Agronomy) and Food Engineering at BSc level, while the Multidisciplinary Doctoral School of Plant, Animal and Food Sciences offers English language PhD programmes as well.  

Jászberény Campus – Eszterházy Károly University

The Jászberény Campus of Eszterházy Károly University is located in Jászberény, a small, charming town only 80 km from Budapest. Thanks to its rich historic background as the centre of Jazygia (the region of an ancient Hungarian tribe), the town has a vibrant cultural and artistic life providing many leisure opportunities for all generations. Having more than a hundred-year old tradition in teacher training, the Jászberény Campus of Eszterházy Károly University provides high-quality programmes at BA and MA levels in the fields of Pre-School Teacher Training, Teacher Training or Social Pedagogy. The practice-oriented Pre-School Teacher Training at BA level is also available in English language for international students.

The Faculty of Water Sciences - Ludovika-University of Public Service

The Faculty of Water Sciences is situated in Baja, the second largest town of Bács-Kiskun county in the central-southern part of Hungary. Located at the bank of the River Danube, Baja has become a significant port-town of the country and an economic and education centre of the region. The Faculty of Water Sciences is the youngest faculty of the University and provides training on modern water management in laboratories equipped with the most cutting-edge technology and measuring instruments. International students can choose from degree programmes such as Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering at BSc level.

Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music

The Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music is located in Kecskemét, the seat and largest town of Bács-Kiskun county. The vibrant, multicultural city is home to many internationally renowned music scenes and numerous unique art collections that are worth discovering by all generations. The prominent Kodály Institute has a leading role in the Hungarian music education and it coordinates various cultural and research activities as well. The Institute offers high-quality education in a fully international environment, where students can learn from highly reputed music educators, with modern learning facilities. At the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music international students can choose from English language programmes such as Musical Creative Arts and Musicology at BA level and Kodály Music Pedagogy at MA level.

Károly Róbert Campus - Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences

With a history of more than half a century, the Károly Róbert Campus of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences offers outstanding education in the field of agriculture, economics and informatics. Located in Gyöngyös at the foot of the Mátra Mountains, the modern campus provides excellent environment for learning, doing research and living a vivid university life in the beautiful, natural environment of Northern Hungary. Besides the well-equipped, modern halls of the campus, the university offers practical training opportunities in the nearby hotel and study farm as well. The institution has a large number of international students each year, who can choose from English language programmes from BSc to MSc level in the fields of Agricultural Engineering, Tourism or Business Administration and Management.
