Semmelweis University is among the world’s best 300 universities

Semmelweis University has improved its position by 149 since last year and is now among the top 300 higher education institutions in the latest World University Rankings of Times Higher Education (THE). The university has advanced significantly, improving all indicators and becoming a leading institution among Hungarian universities. At present, Semmelweis University is second among the TOP 500 universities of Europe in terms of the improvement it had made in a single year.

Semmelweis University has once again advanced in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking and entered the world’s best 300, moving from last year’s 426th to 149th place of the world’s top universities. This year, Semmelweis has made significant improvement by being listed among the best 250-300 universities compared to last year’s 401-500 range.

The rector of the institution, Dr Béla Merkely pointed out that Semmelweis University is the second among the TOP 500 universities of Europe which have made the most improvement in the past year.

“These facts demonstrate that thanks to the outstanding performance of Semmelweis Citizens, our university is advancing on the right path and in direction to get closer to its ambitious goal.” – added rector Dr Merkely.

The university has made improvements across all main indicators, achieving the best performance in “Education” and has ranked among the 25% of the top universities in the areas of “Citations”, “International Outlook” and “Education”.

11 Hungarian universities have made it to the list this year, with Semmelweis University taking the lead among Hungarian universities. Eötvös Loránd University was ranked in the range 601-800, while the University of Pécs, University of Debrecen and University of Szeged are listed in range 801-1000.
