Volunteering is a great way to showcase particular skills or develop experience in a particular industry. Among nowadays’ tips and tasks are to find a good volunteer project that will help you develop a particular skill or experience that is essential for your dream job. Be a member of our Alumni Network Hungary and get your benefit by volunteering.

The Alumni Network Hungary is a network for current or former international students in Hungary with the aim to facilitate networking between members. Inside the community, there is a small volunteer group (members are either in Hungary or at their home/residence country) with the aim to build up an international alumni network. They volunteer in various fields such as searching and facilitating grassroot alumni communities or building up new ones, promoting Hungarian Higher Education based on their experience, helping fresh alumni in their temporary season after graduation and searching for senior alumni.

Volunteering for an organization related to your industry is a good way to make new contacts who can potentially help you with your job search. The more people you know, the better chance you have to get hired.  In addition, it is a great way to give back to your local community, expand your network, and have fun. Our volunteer program is a long-term project which lasts at least for 2 years. After your active membership we will give you a certificate or reference for your future work as a recommendation.  There are two main projects within our volunteer program: the Promotion Hungarian Higher Education project which includes writing blogs, making a vlog, conducting interviews with senior alumni, helping organizing TPF events and study fairs. The other project is Arranging Alumni Meetings where you can mentor students, facilitate self-organizing meetings, and cooperate with Hungarian alumni networks or clubs.

Currently there are 34 volunteers in our program from 17 countries speaking 23 languages besides English. Our group studied on 25 majors (mostly master courses) at 14 different Hungarian universities. Join Alumni Network Hungary, and you can read their experience and their impressions on how alumni volunteering has developed their personality and skills. If you are fresh graduated student you can ask them about their Hungarian lifestyle.
